How to remove caulk from exterior stucco?

The caulk that I used was old. It did not harden. It is the consistency of frosting. The caulk is almost greasy. It is an exterior window on stucco. I have scd most of it off, but I'm afraid that I will not get it clean enough to reapply new caulk.
