Difference between Smith and Wesson M&P 15 vs the Smith and Wesson M&P 15 Sport?

On the website, both weapons look close to the same to an untrained eye such as mine. The M&P 15 is $1200, while the Sport is $700. What makes the Sport almost half the price?
