Were creative storytellers the origin of all religions?

Think about it. No TV, movies etc. Just like wandering minstrels and other entertainers, they earned a living telling stories that people enjoyed. They had to have talent and some stories were more popular than others. Plus, it was ped down verbally and the audience knew the stories and paid more for a good story.
